Day Nine, Engagement News
When they where all seated and the food was being served, Oscar then said to them all.
"Listen up everyone, today I have been to an important meeting about our future. The people who are in charge of all of us, are very pleased with the way things are going and are willing to keep things as they are. What that means is that we are to carry on as we are, taking on jobs as they are handed over to us and they have also agreed that if Ray or Dona want to give it all up, then we all pack in.
It looks like we will be picking up important things from around the world or we could even be dropping off important things, I suppose its all the same. I also think that we could even just have to go somewhere, have a look and report back what we have seen. We will just have to see how it goes.
As for how we live our lives, we can stay here in the house for as long as we want to and that includes all of us. When we are quiet though, we can go home if you want too or need too, but we all need to stay in close contact so as to be able to get back here ASAP. Most of us live local anyway and the two that do not, can get back quicker than the rest of us anyway. Yes that is right Ray and Dona can use the Artifact as they want too, but must remain in contact with us at all times.
Also I have been a little bit uptight about all this lately, the department is all a lot different and new to what I have been used to doing but I am sure we are all going to make this work. So from now on I will try to be back to the normal me, thank you all for your support, oh and I got engaged"
They all turned and stared at Oscar.
"Waite a minute, what was that last little bit" said Dona
"I got engaged to June, my girlfriend, I just thought you would all like to know, oh and you are all invited out tomorrow night to meet her, that is if you want too. Its just for a drink around the corner to meet her but only if you want too." answered Oscar.
"Of course we want to meet her" replied Done "we didn't even know you were seeing anyone."
"It was while we were away in France, just seeing you Dona and Ray, working and living so well together that when I got back I asked my girlfriend June to marry me." said Oscar.
"This all sounds absolutely fantastic" said Ray, and the others all joined in with the congratulations. Terry suddenly reappeared (no one had even noticed him wander off), with a bottle of champagne and a handful of glasses.
"Here, get a glass each" he said "we need to do this properly" he handed them a glass each and filled them with champagne "all the best to Oscar and Jane and all the best to us for the future".
They all cheered and drank up, then they found plenty more to drink and made a night of it.
